A graduate from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, Ian’s theatre and creative development credits include HART (She Said Theatre, winner of three Melbourne Fringe 2015 awards, including Best Emerging Indigenous Artist, and Best Emerging Artist at Adelaide Fringe 2016), Laika and Wills (She Said Theatre/ Melbourne Fringe); Big Day Out, Black Writers Lab (Ilbijerri Theatre Company); Dingoes Baby (Komissar Kabaret/La Mama/Melbourne Comedy Festival); The New Black (The Arts Centre-Carnegie 18 series); Jandamarra (Bunuba Films); Waltzing the Wilarra, Muttacar-Sorry Business (Yirra Yaakin Theatre Company). Film credits include Where are the Warriors (Wirrim Films) and Needle (Nexus 6 Films). Ian was the Assistant Director of Casting Doubts at WAAPA and Assistant Stage Manager for Lu’arn (Footscray Arts Centre/Melbourne Indigenous Arts Festival). While at WAAPA, Ian played lead roles in Blackrock, Gunjies, and In Our Town as well the short film Project Petey DNA which had success at the Toronto imagineNATIVE Festival, St Kilda Film Festival, Winnipeg Aboriginal Film Festival and premiered at the Dungog Film Festival. He is a proud Noongar man from Western Australia. In 2013, Ian was awarded the Most Outstanding Indigenous Artist for his role as William in Laika and Wills at the Melbourne Fringe. In 2016, he received the Best Emerging Artist award at Adelaide Fringe, following a Weekly Award-winning season at Tandanya.
